After falling a couple times for no apparent reason and getting a clean bill of health from my primary care provider that there was nothing physically wrong with me that may have caused these falls, I decided to join the gym and get a trainer to improve my muscle strength, balance and confidence in my body. At the time I was using a cane for walking and still having anxiety attacks about falling again, possibly breaking a hip. I explained to Monique what I was struggling with and that my goal was to get rid of the cane and the anxiety attacks. She understood exactly what I was experiencing. She was patient, respectful and pushed me in a gentle, supportive way so I got past my self-imposed limitations. If I was having an anxious day she adjusted the workout so I could move through it and feel positive about myself at the end of the session.
I am now cane-free, have had only a few episodes of anxiety none of which have been debilitating like before. Monique has shown me how to breathe, refocus and move through the anxiety. She has not only improved my physical wellbeing but just as important my mental wellbeing. I trust her guidance and suggestions. She has always treated me with respect, empathy and compassion. I look forward to each session and always feel better after each session.
